Method

Step by step instructions

  • Wash and cook toor dal with water until soft.
  • Mash the dal and keep aside.
  • Cook chopped vegetables separately until tender.
  • In a large pot, add dal, vegetables, tamarind pulp, salt, and sambar powder.
  • Mix well and bring to a boil.
  • Simmer for 10 minutes on low flame.
  • Heat oil in a small pan.
  • Add mustard seeds and let them crackle.
  • Add curry leaves and a pinch of Okhliwali Hing.
  • Pour tempering over sambar.
  • Mix and serve hot.
